AVO Security

Privacy policy

Effective 4 August 2026. This policy replaces the version dated 1 April 2025.

AVO Security is operated by Aifinity Solutions. This policy covers the AVO apps on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and Windows, and this website. If you have a question about it, write to info@avosecurity.com.

What we collect

Information you give us

Your name and email address when you create an account, and anything you send us when you contact support. Email addresses you add to Email Breach Scan are stored so they can be checked against new breaches over time.

Device and app information

Device type, model, operating system version and a unique device identifier. Which app version you are running, and which devices are signed in to your account. This is what makes a device seat count work and what tells us whether a fix has reached you.

Usage information

Which features are used and how often, and diagnostic data including crash reports. This is tied to an installation rather than to your name.

What we do not collect

Web Shield resolves domain lookups in order to block phishing, malware and trackers. Those lookups are not stored against your account, not sold, and not used to build a profile of you.

The VPN does not log the sites you visit. A tunnel that kept a record of its own traffic would defeat the point of having one.

Smart Scan reads files on your device in order to check them. Their contents stay on the device. What leaves it is a count and a classification, not your documents.

We do not sell personal information to anyone.

Why we use it

  • To provide the app and keep your account working across your devices
  • To answer support requests
  • To find and fix faults, and to see which features are worth improving
  • To tell you about updates and changes to the service

If we send you anything promotional, every message includes a way to stop receiving them.

Who else is involved

Payment is handled by the Apple App Store, Google Play or our payment processor, depending on where you subscribed. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded. We do not receive your card details.

We use service providers for hosting, analytics and customer support. They may process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for anything else.

Breach checking is performed against third party breach databases.

How long we keep it

Account information is kept while the account exists and deleted within 30 days of you closing it. Addresses you have added to Email Breach Scan are deleted as soon as you remove them. Diagnostic data is kept for 90 days. Beyond that, we keep information only where the law requires it or to resolve a dispute.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to info@avosecurity.com and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, you also have the right to object to certain processing and to complain to your national data protection authority.

Children

AVO is not intended for children to set up on their own. Parental Controls are configured by an adult on their own account. A child profile stores a name or nickname and the rules applied to it. It does not create a separate account for the child or collect their contact details.

Security

Account passwords are stored hashed. Traffic between the apps and our servers is encrypted. No system is perfect, and we will tell affected users if a breach occurs that puts their information at risk.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or why, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect rather than updating this page quietly.
